PCE-RVI 1 is an analogue viscometer or dial reading viscometer used in industrial and research applications to measure the viscosity of fluids such as paints, lacquers, inks, pastes, adhesives, plastics, greases and liquid food products. Under identical conditions, test results from an analogue viscometer are as accurate and reproducible as results from a digital viscometer. Thus, the PCE-RVI 1 analogue viscometer offers an affordable solution for viscosity measurement during product and material testing, development, production and quality control.

Prepare the liquid to be measured and put it into a glass beaker or a right angle container with a diameter no smaller than 70 mm and a height no smaller than 130 mm. Adjust the lifting screw and put the spindle into the liquid until the level mark on the spindle reaches the liquid's surface. Connect the power supply, turn on the equipment, screw the speed knob, select the velocity and relax the pointer joystick. When selecting a rotational speed of 6 or 12 rpm, the final measurement value may be read when the pointer becomes stable. When selecting 30 or 60 rpm, press the pointer joystick after pointer becoming stable, cut power supply, then read the final measurement value.
