The relevant data are output on the large multifunctional display (75 × 60 mm). In battery mode, up to  2500 hours of continuous work can be performed without the cumbersome power cord. Alternatively, the optional power supply unit enables power-saving operation at configured measuring stations.

The CG 853 has GLP functions, such as calibration protocoling and measurement documentation including date, storage and identification number. The integrated real-time clock makes online documentation possible. The integrated interface with self-detecting output can be used to hook up to a printer, recorder (analog) or PC. The type of temperature compensation is selectable and can be done either automatically or manually.
