All blotting methods require the use of high purity blotting papers with smooth surfaces and high and even absorbency. Schleicher & Schuell offers a range of top quality blotting papers to meet all these requirements.
GB 002 is the "universal" blotting paper with very high wet strength. GB 002 can be used for Southern, Northern and Western blotting, for the denaturation and neutralization of transfer membranes in colony/plaque lifts, for sequencing gel lifts and for electrophoresis wicks. Applications: General purpose
GB 003 is a general purpose blotting paper which is twice as thick as GB 002. In terms of thickness and absorbency the GB 003 is between GB 002 and GB 005. Applications: General purpose
GB 004 is a thick absorbent paper for capillary blotting of biomolecules. It offers much higher and more consistent absorbency than conventional paper towels. Applications: Absorbent paper
GB 005 is an extra-thick, highly absorbent blotting paper. This makes the GB 005 highly suitable for semi-dry blotting of proteins where fewer layers of blotting paper must still ensure a high capacity. Fewer layers of GB 005 blotting paper reduce the risk of trapping air bubbles between the layers. Applications: e.g. semi-dry blotting
